You can dual wield finesse light weapons and dual wield hand crossbows which make them very good at melee and range while having very good AC. The problem is you kinda want 3 levels of rogue / thief to get a extra bonus action for your offhand.

Nyaria Aug 14, 2023 @ 5:41am. Base Dual Wield you have to dual wield using weapons labeled as light. You also only benefit from attack bonuses with offhand for your attributes, but not damage. So it does much less damage. With the Dual Wield Feat, you can dual wield any weapon, as long as they are not tagged as heavy.On the other hand, there are Rapiers and a some Longswords with more damage that have do “Finesse” in the game. If you want to dual wield these, then take the Dual Wield Feat at level 4. It’s totally up to how you want to role-play. Personally, I don’t think the 1-2 extra points of Longsword/Rapier matters much.
