Conventional is fine as long as you don't try to push the oil change intervals too far, though I prefer synthetic since it does lubricate better (especially when cold) and tends to keep the engine cleaner and if you do your own oil changes the price difference is miniscule ($5-10 for a 5 qt. jug).
